All Facts. No Fiction.
We are aware of a circulating truck displaying false and misleading claims. Here are the facts:
The statements in question were addressing an illegal and discriminatory motion, not individuals. This motion was deemed out of order as it sought to direct Town staff to act beyond municipal jurisdiction, which is unlawful.
I have never stated that opposing mass immigration equates to being "xenophobic, racist garbage." Such claims are false and defamatory.
As a Councillor, I am legally obligated to adhere to the law and protect residents from liability. Municipal councils do not have the authority to override federal law or implement policies beyond their jurisdiction. Attempting to do so could unnecessarily expose taxpayers to risk and increased costs.
Breaking the law is not leadership; it leads to higher taxes. My priority is to safeguard residents, not to engage in political theatrics. This issue is a matter of local legality, not an immigration debate.
I am committed to supporting respectful discussion and advocacy. However, I will not endorse directing staff to engage in unlawful actions or misleading residents about the Council's capabilities. Misinformation does not alter the law.
Councillor Victoria Bozinovski
